It was a wonderful community club evening of junior rugby on the evening of Friday 5th May for the Inaugural ‘Collins Cup’, a special night to say goodbye to Patrick Collins as one of the Under 13s Junior Coaches.
The match was Under 14s v Under 13s, a convincing win for the Under 14s but with the younger team putting up a strong fight against their older and more experienced opposition. The teams were then mixed for a short friendly game afterwards.
With the bar open, BBQ sizzling and the sun shining (for a short time anyway!), it was a great night and a fitting send off to Patrick from the youngsters he has been coaching – along with fellow first XV players Will and George – for four seasons.
Thank you to everyone who contributed – running the bar, manning the BBQ, baking cakes and turning out! Thanks aslo to Simon Lampitt for photography.
Will there be a second Collins Cup next year? We’ll have to wait and see!
