Upton Junior Under 14s and Under 15s had a fantastic time and made memories that will last a lifetime on tour over the Easter holidays to North Devon.
Staying at the Golden Coast holiday resort just outside Woolacombe, over 50 players, siblings, parents and coaches made the most of the great facilities during the three night stay.
Arriving on Friday, the afternoon was spent exploring the holiday park; the lodges, swimming pools, entertainment centre and of course, the bar!
The tournament took place at nearby South Molton. Weather and pitch conditions were pretty awful but players gave their all as play got underway.
The Under 14s took on the same team twice on the first day of the tournament. Unfortunately for Upton, Hove RFC fielded a very strong team and after a 10-45 loss in the first match, the following friendly was a fun mash-up which saw Upton backs playing the positions of forwards and vice versa for some hilarious results!
On Sunday Upton under 14s won a close game against Ivy Bridge RFC 10-5, followed by yet another fixture against Hove! Their final fixture was declared a win due to the other team conceding the game due to injury.
With two wins and a loss the Under 14s were runners up in the tournament.
Under 15s took on Stow on the Wold in their first match, a low scoring close loss with final score of 5-10. Sunday match results saw a 0-20 loss to Cullumpton RFC, 5-15 loss to Crediton.
Back to the beach for a mums, dads, coaches and players touch rugby fun for the under 14 team.
All rugby aside, much fun was had for the traditional fancy dress Saturday night shenanigans back at base camp! Hawaiian theme for under 14s and Mexican for the under 15s a brilliant Saturday night was had by all.
